see? I told you it was there.
the best/most ironic part about my three segment vday extravaganza?
none of the pictures were actually taken on vday!
we aren't really huge fans of the hallmark occasion in our house and instead we always try to do things to show that we care for each other. and we always make an effort to be romantic and spend time together.
not just on one day a year.
but anyways, we did decide to embrace the spirit of "couple-ness" this week and planned some really fun excursions.
did we get to all of them?
nope.
it was sort of an eyes are bigger than our stomach scenario. but we did discover some interesting and new things to do in tucson. and have plenty more planned.
hello? arizona has a renaissance fair next month! and spring training! and a bunch of broadway musicals are coming to town!
exciting things planned for the spring.

on monday night I found a theater that plays older movies for 4 bucks a person! holla. and guess what they were showing that night?
um yeah. breakfast at tiffany's.
oh hai audrey hepburn, I do adore you.
did I die?
I did.
so, logan was a good hubs and went with me. I rocked my "thrifted from good will for only a dollar" zebra shirt, some purple tights, new pink lipstick (in honor of vday week), and a black ribbon in my hair.

and yes, that is the number to our condo/apartment. and yes, I did paint it pink.

when I had arrived home from class that day, I found this little display to greet me in my kitchen.
though I'm not a huge fan of flowers, logan always buys them for me.
when he was away for boot camp for 8 months last year, he had flowers sent to me every month just to show he was thinking of me. though it was hard to be away from him, it was such a romantic time for us. I wrote him a letter for every single day that he was gone.
and you know what?
he kept them all.
now we have a little scrap book filled with our letters to each other from the year and its nice to be able to go back and look at when we are having a little fight and realize that it will pass.

isn't that turtle ridiculously adorable?
too bad my dogs thought so as well and have since abducted said turtle.
they are asking for bones for ransom and I'm going to have to pay up to get him back.
sigh.
also, seeds is my hubby's nickname for me. it has evolved so much we don't even really know where it started at this point.
I know before seeds, it was bunseeds. yeah. I know.
but before that... can't recall.
does anyone else have funny nicknames for their significant other?
hope its not just us.

wow. what is that de-lish looking picture of treat awesomeness? well, those are lovies. one of my best friends, leah, bakes these morsels of yum.

purple and black H&M with a view.

ok ladies, I am feeling it today. that hike from yesterday pretty much killed me dead. yup.
we hiked for four/five hours and the husband kicked my butt.
the day was completely wonderful and I'm going to take a break from posting california trip photos tomorrow (thursday) so that I can show you pictures from our
hike/photo exhibit trip/picnic/valentine's day
and have another special valentine give away!
two in one week? yikes!
we also had the opportunity to head over to check out the progress on the house yesterday.
can I just say, its really neat to be a part of the process and to be able to watch our first home being built before our eyes.
I'm getting sappy about it.
but so much was done to it! we now have a drive way! woo. the hubby was SO adorable about it because he refused to drive up onto it. he said
"we can't drive on it until the entire house is ready. then we will drive home together."
um hi? I love him.
and it was the first time we brought the dogs there. our first time all in our home together. and they were surprisingly really ecstatic to be there. it was like they knew it was ours. they can be crazy smart like that some times. :)

anyways, another california trip outfit for y'all. spent the day over in the east bay. went to il fornio for lunch with some friends, but didn't bring the camera.

yay, the faux fur vest returns for another post this week. I was enjoying/relishing my ability to wear cold weather clothes because I knew as soon as I made it back to arizona it was going to be:

matrix and the bitter end.

happy tuesday! I'm particularly excited because the hubby has the day off today (hes a federal agent and has the strangest days off). we didn't have a chance to celebrate valentine's day, which is really ok with me, so we are going to spend the day together today.
on the agenda:
1. take the dogs for a few mile hike at sabino canyon in the gorgeous arizona sun.
2. head over to the university to check out the ansel adams photo exhibit.
3. drive out to the San Xavier Del Bac mission. its beautiful.
4. take our packed picnic and have dinner at the lake across from our new house
5. go have a dance party in the new house now that there are floors!

so on to the post. and I apologize in advance because these photos were super difficult to edit and they came out sort of crazy looking. they were mostly taken were it was dark to begin with and the flash either went bananas or didn't work at all.
way to go, fancy camera.

this night was such a blast. it was our friend frankie's birthday and so he rented this huge limo for the night and we headed into the city. san francisco is such a huge city that if your going to have a real night out, this is the only way to do it. that way you don't have to worry about anyone trying to drive themselves, or about getting lost en route to the next stop.

when we head out in SF during the winter months, dark colors are a must. it is the city after all.
I wore my knee high boots, leggings, lacy top and my new coach sequin purse. I used this bag all through the holidays and it was perfect.
thanks hubs for the sweet purse.

one of the first places we made it to was matrix. its one of our favorites and you will always end up seeing someone of note there. its a given. and of course we took a time out for
a bathroom photo shoot.

these two girls are the sisters I never had. emily, well you've seen her in tons of my posts before. maid of honer/ best friend extraordinaire. this is her little sister, Liz. I have known her since she was in middle school and I treat her like she is my family.
coincidentally, she is the same age as my little brother, mike.
a few years ago, emily and I got it into our heads that if the two of them got married then we would actually be related.
we set them up, and thus occurred the worst blind date in the history of the world. we tagged along, and it was the most awkward thing I've ever seen. bless them both for trying.

I was really feeling this whole multiple necklaces=awesomeness on this trip. thoughts?

after a few more stops we made it to bitter end. this is a great low key place if you want to listen to some good music, shoot some pool and be able to chat with your group of friends.

before everyone went back to the hotel, we took the limo up to twin peaks. which is hands down the best view of san francisco. its kind of tricky to get to, but so much fun, and absolutely gorgeous. it was a saturday night and tons of people were out there taking pictures and freezing.
despite the fact that it was three am.

faux fur and a foggy field.

happy monday!
the weekends are beginning to go by far too quickly.
especially now that I am trying to pack for our big move to our first house!
before I tell you about these lovely foggy photos, let me say this...

ok, so these are some of my favorite shots from the trip. not because I am wearing a particularly awesome ensemble, but because I am kind of head-over-heels in love with this background. it was exceptionally foggy and just about to rain so the sky was this murky "storm-about-to-hit" color. glorious.
this gorgeous field is the one that is right behind my parents house. remember this picture? taken in the same field in the summer when everything in sonoma is golden and brown. it amazes me how one place can look so different.
beautiful, but in two completely opposite ways.

I was sort of angry with myself later that I wasn't wearing a more incredible outfit, but I was so in love with how the field looked out the window the day I was visiting my parents I just hopped up, grabbed the hubby and decided it was photo shoot time.

raise your hand if you are loving the lighter version of the faux fur vest! I was so enthralled by my black one (that I pretty much rocked the entire first half of the trip), I decided to give in and grab myself this one as well.
on a similar note: I only wear faux fur because, as you know. I am a friend of the animals. I think my hubs will move out if I bring any more homeless animals back to our place! trying to be animal conscious is difficult when you are a fashionista. no leather. no fur. having to check all the labels to see what goes into your clothing. but its worth it and I make it work.
to each their own.

it was a rainy/chilly/stay inside kind of day, so I was all layered up. layering is one of the number one rules when you live in san francisco. it can be foggy in the morning, rainy at lunch, sunny by the afternoon, and clear skies when the sun goes down.
you really never know.
so the key? layer up.
I'm most definitely working my inner-boho-chic look here with as many layers as I have on.
