city days and trench coats.

now that, right there, is a genuine megan smile. we had so much fun on this day.
it was one of the few days that the hubby was able to get off to visit me and we decided to dedicate an entire day to doing everything we love in san francisco.
I know that the outfit isn't much to look at, per se, but during the trip I fell in love with this trench. when I wasn't rocking my faux fur, I had on this.
its one of those classic pieces that you can throw on over anything and still look completely glamorous.

into the city we went, and it was a gloriously foggy day. its one of the most endearing and beautiful qualities about san francisco. in fact, many famous and prolific writers have deemed our city note worthy of some fine prose. since I am feeling english major-ish today, I decided that instead of telling you what we did...
(because hi? the pictures sort of do that for me. chocolate shop at hyde st, bread bowls at fishermans wharf, climbing coit tower, and shopping in china town... and yes all are a MUST do)
... I would leave you with some of my favorite san francisco quotes. enjoy. :)

perpetual spring, the flare of adventure in the blood the impulse of men who packed virgil with their bean-bags on the over land journey conspired to make san francisco a city of artists.
*william henry irwin*

let him who is worthy by reason of his clear eye and unjaded heart wander across these borders of beauty and mystery and be glad.
*george sterling*

its a mad city inhabited by perfectly insane people, whose women are of remarkable beauty.
*rudyard kipling*

oh but san francisco! it is & has everything. you wouldn't think that such a place as san francisco could exist. the lobsters, clams, crabs. oh, what food for you!
*dylan thomas*

careful now, we're dealing here with a myth. this city is a point upon a map of fog.
*ambrose bierve*

the coldest winter I ever saw, was the summer I spent in san francisco
*mark twain*

it is an odd thing, but anyone who disappears is said to be seen in san francisco,
it must be a delightful city and possess all the attractions of the next world.
*oscar wilde*

san francisco itself is art, above all literary art. every block is a short story, every hill a novel, every home a poem, every dweller within immortal.
*william sayoran*

high on a hill, it calls to me.
to be where little cable cars climb half way to the stars.
the morning fog may chill the air, I don't care.

my love waits there in san francisco
above the blue and windy sea
*tony bennett*

if your going to san francisco, be sure to wear some flowers in your hair.
*J.B. Phillips*

I fledged in san francsico. climbed its hills, slept in its parks, worked on its docks, marched and shouted in its revolts.
*john steinbeck*

san francisco has only one draw back. 'tis hard to leave
*rudyard kipling*

can you tell I'm home sick already? sigh. well not to worry. I will be back in two weeks and counting. SO many lovely plans.
