valentine's week activities continued. :)
for logan's work as a federal agent (particularly with the assignment he is on now) he works outside on the border between the united states and mexico. he is out in the middle of no where. in mountains, desert, all sorts of rough terrain, and at all hours of the day or night. sometimes he can be gone near 16 or 17 hours a day and I can't get a hold of him or find out where he is.
but, all that being said, he has some wicked crazy hiking/surviving/outdoorsy type skills now that the government taught him.
oh hey, thanks u.s. gov. for turning my husband into some psycho mountain man.
straight bear grills style.
logan vs. wild.

one of the things he has been wanting to do, is to take me hiking up near some of the mountain ranges that he works in. we drove a little over an hour to get there, and it was absolutely beautiful. it was definitely off the beaten path.
I've hiked and camped before, but mostly at largely touristy areas.
yosemite, grand canyon, hilton head, santa cruz.
you know, places that have marked trails and coffee stops.
that sort of thing.

but here, there weren't really even walking trails. which made it kind of exciting. Logan had all of his fancy GPS gear and was teaching me how to track what he calls "sign".
we saw mountain lion prints, as well as bear prints, and ran into wild deer and turkey.

crash and nicky were loving the hike. the arizona mountain air was pretty glorious.
we hiked for half of the day and went about 6 miles.
3 miles there and 3 miles back
while it doesn't seem like a far hike, parts of it were straight uphill.
are you kidding? my legs are still killing me.

all in all, it was a really fun part of the day. and I was impressed with all of the skillz that my hubby now has. below are a few videos to make you laugh. I was trying to be quiet to not disturb the wild life around us. also, logan was seriously regretting buying me that flip video camera.
because now I take videos of everything.
ha.
well, hope you enjoyed both posts today. and remember to enter the give aways!
the BBL headband winner will be drawn tomorrow!

ReplyDeleteOhhhh how cool!! It looks like a rockin' good time!
ReplyDeletethis is going to sound weird, but you have a very pleasant voice! haha...I always cringe when i see videos because you never KNOW how a blogger is going to sound like - and that says a lot about someone!
ReplyDeleterandom - but just wanted to let you know, you're not just pretty and fashionable, you also have a personality - and that's going to get you far in life!
What a really great thing to do together! I love hiking with David - we haven't done it in a while because he broke his foot. But as soon as it warms up, I'm adding it to our list of dates to do!
