sequins and bowling shirts. oh my.

happy tuesday. today's post is heavy on the pictures and light on the words. a very rare occasion for an english major, I promise you. this week just gets busier and busier. :)

I brought my H&M sequin frock with me for the trip and dressed it up with all black for our family dinner at the in-laws.
It can be seen in this older post for a little more of a rockin, casual look.
but I digress.
since my hubby, Logan, had to work through christmas (federal agents don't have much of a say in their schedules!) he was only able to come home for a dew days after the holidays.
we decided to have a faux christmas so that he would be able to celebrate.
everyone got dolled up and we had a ginormous dinner.

below is a photo of our family first wive's club. ha.
if you have been paying attention, you will notice that my husband comes from a family that is heavy on the male side. four brothers, one sweet little sister, and one rockin cousin (shes like a sister to us)
the three oldest brothers are all within a few years of each other and we always have a blast. its literally like living with your best friends. no one makes me laugh the way my family/in-laws do.
for reals.

so here are the girls. Rene and Jules. Julia is that crazy cousin, and she is getting married in a few months (cant wait to walk down that aisle right before you darling).
Rene is dating one of my many brother in laws, Leigh. He is closest in age to my hubs and therefore the most like him. I love her because she is one of the only people in the world who truly understands what its like to live with one of these boys.
she also understands me best because both of them have chosen to serve their country.
*our boys are brave*
they both put their lives on the line and I am so proud of them. it takes a certain type of lady to be able to get through that and to be separated for long stints of time.
Logan and I were apart for almost 8 months last year!
and miss Rene won't have her man back in her arms until the end of this year.
sigh. we are tough chicks.

*another member of the first wives club*

now, I offer an explanation for the below photos.
remember my wacky in-laws? with the upside down tree? the ones who call themselves the wolf pack?
(were not crazy, our last name is wolf. duh.)
well for our family christmas present this year, they decided to buy all of us matching bowling shirts with our names on them! crazy!

and sometimes the combination of bowling shirts plus wine equals embarrassing photos of you lovin on rob patz.

dear pre-teen sister in law,
thanks for bringing out your teen bop magazine to share with your older sisters at 2 am, when you knew that you shouldn't be showing us pictures from twilight. and thanks for insisting we take pictures of it. I will get you back for this. you and your justin beiber clad room.
love,
megan

after dinner/copious amounts of wine/present opening, we decided to have a bon fire outside and catch up with each other. all together in the fam we have...

Julia, Tom, Logan, Megan, Leigh, Rene, Landon, Tiana, Layton, and Denae.

and those are just the kids. brady bunch much?

wow.
remember at the beginning of this post when I said I wasn't going to write much today?
yeah. I totally lied.
sorry!

hope you enjoyed the extra long post and again stay tuned for later this week! and welcome new followers! I appreciate each and every comment and lovely person who takes time to check out my ramblings!

to those who are being caught in the snow out east, be careful, and stay warm!
and make some snow angels for me already. jeez.

sushi. sake. san francisco.

happy monday ladies! and welcome to any lovelies that have made their way over here from the fabulous Amy's blog *waves* hi!
today is unfortunately going to be a quick post, as I am running off to the school for some meetings. blah. it was a pretty uneventful weekend and I am sad to say that my trip back to san francisco was canceled. extreme sad face. I was headed up there to help out my mama and watch the house while she and my dad jetted off to barcelona for ten days. but, my mom ended up getting pneumonia (of all things? really?) a few days ago and is no longer going.
but I can now concentrate on planning my east coast trip and keep that in my sights!
on to the post.
I've lost track of what day of the california trip this was... but enjoy anyways. :)

rocked my little tie dye number to meet up with one of our favorite couple friends to grab some sushi. Logan was able to come home for a few days after the holidays and it was a complete whirlwind attempting to see everyone.

I was feeling the gray/black/tan combo here. yes?

fun fact, is that this is actually my mom's shirt and I totally stole it from her massive closet.
sorry!
have you even noticed it missing yet? no!

love this sushi place. Ra. gotta try it if you are over in the east bay.

the husband finally makes an appearance.
aside from the leggings+funky shirts+boots kick that I was on this trip, I was also finding some deep love for layering chunky necklaces.

my sweet friend, rachel. she is a total doll. she is a grad student at pepperdine, down in malibu.
seriously, you can see the beach from her window.
jealous? you bet.
anyways, she is studying to be a family therapist. she actually gets to have patients as part of her grad school program. so she is already helping out families.
I have such a deep admiration for the amount of friends that are out in the world making a difference. all of my girls have turned out to be teachers, or doctors, or vets, or therapists, and some are even joining the peace corps. shout out to cassidy, who leaves on a two year adventure next month. cheers to you girl. :)

anyways, hope that you all had a wonderful weekend. did you all watch the big game? do anything out of the ordinary? or super fun? well, share it! and coming up later this week?

my 100th post and give away.

yeah, you want to check back. :)

friday flashbacks.

back again! did we all enjoy the house post? I hope so.
I'm pretty sure I will be updating as more progress is made.
Logan thinks that I'm so particular and obsessed with us almost having a house that I'm going to stake out a lawn chair and sip starbucks while monitoring the house building.
so... good idea? bad idea? crazy idea? ha.
no. but I will fersure be checking in and counting down the days.
too soon to start packing?
anyways, as I was working and cleaning out the computer I came across some photos that I never got around to posting circa november.
you know...before I left for the epic, month long excursion to california.
I figured since we were taking a break from the trip posting today anyway, that I would toss them up here. I can see why I didn't originally get around to posting them, as they aren't my favorites.
but, I'm giving them a shot in this post.
nothing too exciting. I remember this was finals week and I was looking/feeling pretty haggard and was not up to accessorizing (notice the lack of the usual bling).
but, I'm posting them in flashback friday, so enjoy... off to november we go.

oh man, I miss this color! time to put all those blacks and grays away and get ready for spring.

ahh, the day I finally gave in and attempted the onesie jumper. never again, my friends. never again.

this one was kind of fun. love that color. and love wacky tights, any day.

oh hey, really-tired-glasses-wearing-finals day-version of megan.
*channeling inner school girl*
I think my subconscious thought it might be helpful to ace those exams if I dressed the part.
and it fersure worked.
oh hey, all A's last semester. lets do it again this time around, shall we?

ok, two long posts today. forgive me. but stay with me because next week is my special 100th post and first give away!

xoxo

home is where the heart is.

and now a break from our regularly scheduled program/blogging. I bring you our very first home! Its not much now (obviously), but it will be finished in a few short months and then we can really make it our own.

we are beyond ecstatic. we've been renting for years (um hi? california is ridiculously expensive) and with the move to arizona we can now afford to own our own place. I am in love with it already and can't wait to paint and pretty much do everything to my heart's desire.
with no land lord to answer to.
this is pure bliss.
just have to make it through another 8 weeks in our 700 square foot studio. yes, the one with NO backyard and two medium size dogs. as much as I love having my fridge and my TV and my closet and my shower within like 5 feet of each other...sigh.
its about time. my closet looks like it exploded. can't wait to have space again for all of my stuff! and space to do all of my crafty nonsense, as Logan likes to call it.
you know... painting, scrapbooking, photographing. all that nonsense :)

we are nerds. and clearly elated. this is our garage if you haven't heard yet. oh man, we are totally going to be those neighbors, aren't we? I'll work on it.

picture jumping attempt: round two

la- la-la-la

and now were tired. house purchasing is a ton of work. yo.

its going to be gorgeous when completed. its a HUGE lot with lots of room for the pups and it over looks a lake, and some pretty pretty pretty mountains.

remember a few days ago when Christen posted this neat idea?
well this will be the view from my front door. soon. :)

oh yes, and here is a fun video to go along with the post. the day we went to look at the house, the hubby and I bought one of those tiny flip camcorders that was on sale. I was going crazy recording videos of everything.
and he was not happy at this point, so ignore him.
I hope to have more vids to post in the future!
ok, well happy friday and stay tuned for an outfit post today as well
back to regularly scheduled programming/blogging.

I get by with a little help from my friends.

happy thursday! here is a very quick little post for today, as this week has been ridiculously busy.
I am overwhelmed with school, final house contracts, getting our taxes done (blah), packing for next week, prepping for a friend to come to town and getting the pups set up in doggie day care for while I am gone.
who knew that dogs had to be interviewed for day care! I hope we pass with flying colors. :)
but on to the outfit. this one one of my few bright colors that I brought with me on the trip. such a pretty red, and I ended up wearing it for a few drink dates with friends. I apologize for the background. we were staying with logan's parents that week, and were rooming in his little brother's room. at one point while we were staying there the head count of kid was 8! and we were all sharing one bathroom. what?! I know.

anyways, I wore this the first time around to meet up with four of my besties. sigh. I miss them so much.
looking at this picture makes me beyond excited to see them all again next week.
starting from the left we have leah . we met our freshman year on the dance and cheer team and have been inseparable ever since. Sara, in the green practically roomed with Jess (far right) and I in our first year dorm room. and sadly just as I was moving away last year, she was finally moving back from Oregon. Jess was my roomie for the entire college experience, she even shared an apartment with Logan and I our last year. SO much fun. She now lives in my old town, chicago and teaches at an inner city school. Jess and Leah were also two of my bridesmaids. good times.

we are all smiles when we are together.
I pulled out my red dress again to have drinks in sonoma with Cait. well, Dr. Cait as of last month. It seemed like she was in school forever, but she is finally graduated and off to help people with her mad doctor skillz. this time when I wore the dress I flipped it around to have a scoop neck. I'm kind of crazy like that, but I enjoy changing it up.

ok, house post tomorrow! happy end of the week.

peppermint latte

hi ladies :) off we go on day six of the california reunion tour. we headed back down from the mountains and I made it over to the east bay in time for a little evening coffee with my lovely friend, Court. the best part about the next few days of photos are that everything still has that magical holiday feel, since all the decorations are left up through new years!
hence, the gorgeous light up tree outside of starbucks.
I rocked one of my black and white tie dye dresses with my boyfriend blazer since it wasn't that chilly outside. I was still experimenting with fun new ways to work my hair cut and I was totally adoring this style. it was parted on the side with part of it clipped back. I paired it all with my gray zara purse, and knee high boots and I was ready to go.
ready to go sip coffee that is.
peppermint latte, to be precise.
nothing else quite like it to get you in the holiday spirit.
I actually drink this glorious concoction for as long as I can get away with it. probably much too far into the spring season when my iced chai latte finally start calling my name.
pretty fountain, no? the east bay may be my personal favorite of the bay area. I will argue this fact.
ok, so here is my darling friend Court. isn't she gorgeous? well not only is she super sweet and fun, but she is a fellow theater junkie.
and one that is actually following her dream. Court lives in LA with her boy, and my good friend Ryan. they are, hands down, my favorite hollywood couple. they are both ridiculously talented. Court is an actress (um hi? she was in the movie fame!) and Ryan is a film maker, screen writer, and camera man extraordinare. not too mention they both can carry a sweet tune, and Ryan is quite the musician (he put out a cd, held concerts and sang at our wedding. swoon. he rocks).

anyways, it was super wonderful to catch up with her and have some theater-shop-talk-time. we gabbed about everything she is working on, and her upcoming workshops and auditions. before we knew it, we had been there for 3 hours! we are coffee shop queens. love you girl. :)

as we were leaving and went to snap some shots to commemorate the gab-fest, we ran into Colleen! lucky us! she is a photography student and also uber talented. she shot and edited these black and whites for us. she is a total doll.

happy middle of the week lovlies. I am finally getting around to unpacking from my crazy adventure, only to realize that I have to pack again next week. I feel like I am in a traveling whirl-wind. next up on the agenda is planning my east coast excursion. I am looking at sometime in march or april and stops will include D.C., New York, and Boston. If you are in those areas pleeeaaassee let me know, as I would love to meet up along my trip :).

stay tuned for friday's house post! cheers.
